Pie. Then.

East coast. Maine. In the middle of nowhere. Fog rolling in. Andy told me that this Maine wild blueberry pie was the best pie in the whole wide world and he wanted me to taste it. It was the late seventies. People did not drive one hundred miles to eat pie, but we did. It was divine. I can still taste it…

West coast. Oregon. In the middle of nowhere. Fog rolling in. Michael told me that this Oregon wild huckleberry pie was the best pie in the whole wide world and he wanted me to taste it. It was the early nineties. People did not drive one hundred miles to eat pie, but we did. It was divine. I can still taste it…

Pie. Now.

The South. Georgia. In the middle of the city. No fog. I am learning to make the best bourbon pecan pie in the whole wide world – an old fashioned bourbon pecan pie with plump pecans from south Georgia orchards and oak barrel bourbon from Kentucky distilleries. I want this pie to be so good that people will drive for hundreds of miles to visit me and eat pie. The thought of it is so divine, I can taste it.
